The roll prints are rolled up and put in a tube for shipping. They do not come with any mounting/framing materials. For rolled prints we generally use one of the following two paper types:
After considerable testing we found that Legacy Platine offers the best combination of contast, color gamut, color accuracy, and glare resistance, so this paper is recommended for the majority of our unmounted prints.
Epson's Legacy Platine is 100% cotton with no OBA's, lignin, or acid. All our prints are done with the highest quality pigment inks; the end result has museum grade archival properties meaning it should look exactly how it did the day it was printed for hundreds of years.
The photo rag paper is recommended for images that have low contrast or a more subdued feel. The color accuracy and aesthetics of this paper set it apart from the other matte papers we experimented with.
Hahnemühle Photo Rag is 100% cotton with no OBA's, lignin, or acid.
We offer a variety of mounted printing options depending on if the location you would like to hang the print will have any glare (if there is a window or other light source behind a typical viewer then this would cause glare). For locations prone to glare we recommend the print is mounted on an aluminum/PVC panel then finished with a UV protective pearly sheen lamination. For locations not prone to glare we recommend other high gloss finishes such as printing directly on metal or acrylic panels as they offer the richest colors and sharpness.
If you know which option you would like (pearl laminated, printed directly on metal, or acrylic facemount) please specify this during checkout. If you are unsure we can contact you to help you decide (or feel free to contact us before ordering to discuss).
Aluminum floater rails can be added to the back; the rails hold the print about 1/2 inch off the wall and have a metal wire attached for hanging. When you receive this type of print it is ready to put up on the wall as is and needs no protective glass or frame.
All of the photographs you see on this site are limited release; the number of prints that will be released for the given image is shown just above the table when you click the shopping cart icon for the given image. Once these are sold, the image will not be printed in sizes larger than 19 inches (measured along the long edge) again.
Prints are individually numbered on the back, signed on the front (unless you request otherwise), and come with a signed and embossed certificate of authenticity.
More discussion on why our prints are limited release can be found in the faq section.
The images shown on the site are relatively small web versions of the high resolution (60+ megapixel) images that will be used to generate your print.
For example:
Every inch of every print is thoroughly examined by us before we send it out to you. Printing will be done with high quality archival pigment inks and heavyweight papers, which should help them last a lifetime and maintain color accuracy.
